Don’t take our word for it, here are some thoughts on our Habanasco – Fermented Habanero Sauce:
“One of the best fermented Habanero Sauces I have ever tasted!” – Bill Moore’s Hot ‘n Spicy Reviews
Great quality fermented habanero hot sauce. This has a great flavor and a nice viscosity. What I love most, though, is the heat! I put hot sauce on everything so I’m always looking for something hotter, but nothing too crazy. This is perfect for me and is versatile, I put it on all sorts of dishes. This brand is new to me but I’ve tried quite a few of their products and have loved everything so far.
I enjoy African Dream Foods’ flavored salts and other sauces, so had to give this one a go. Habanasco is only passingly similar to the other big name “asco” sauce. It is much fresher and fruitier tasting, with a better texture and more immediate heat. The 8/10 rating is well deserved for the average consumers and even those who love heat should appreciate the bright and brief burst of spicy fermented habanero goodness. There is a definite vinegar footprint, but it doesn’t overpower the other flavors. 50% peppers – that’s impressive!
Habanasco pairs well with all sorts of foods. Egg, rice, chicken, pizza — it imparts a welcome zing my taste buds crave. I love that it is all-natural, zero calories a serving, and that part of the proceeds go towards supporting African Wildlife Conservation.
Say “Hello” to a new pantry staple. I just wish it came in a bigger bottle!
It is vinegary forward and presents a very intense amount of spiciness but not to the point it is flavorless and non-consumable as a condiment. I’d rate this one somewhere in the range of 6/7 out 10 on the heat scale, if one were rating it against the top of the volcano brands like MadDog 357.
Added some to my nachos last night and was the perfect way to spice up some mild sauce. Tried some solo before and it had some nice heat, not insane, not too salty, and with good flavor.
When this bottle runs out I will return for more.
I’ve tried several sauces from this brand and they have all been very good and unique. The Fermented Habanero Chili Hot Sauce has limited ingredients of mostly fermented habanero chili mixed with vinegar. As with most habanero pepper sauces, this one is hot in spice heat but it still has a lot of flavor. The sauce is about half pepper and half vinegar so you get a nice balance of the two. I really like this one for a habanero sauce because it isn’t mixed with fruit like many other brands typically do to try to balance the heat. This brand uses vinegar instead so it has a completely different flavor profile.
This is a very good vinegar-based hot sauce with a medium-to-spicy heat level. In the bottle it’s a bright orange, moderately viscous liquid. The flavor is a bright, vinegar-forward one with just a slight trace of an underlying fermented-funky taste, and a medium-hot heat level that builds to a good burn if you serve it generously. It’s a nice choice for general seasoning and tastes great on almost anything bland that needs a little spice.
I am normally not a huge fan of habanero peppers, but fermented, this sauce brought out some brand new flavors I never noticed before! Delicious, savory, vinegary, and complex, this is a terrific hot sauce for people who genuinely enjoy spice. This is the third sauce by African Dream Foods, and they’re going strong: three out of three delicious options. Some of the best hot sauces I’ve had!
This is MAX heat! I mean, it’s really, really hot.
Be careful and consider yourself warned!
It really is that hot.
Overall, I like it very much.
The flavor is good if you can get past the heat.
Highly Recommended–for the brave only!
I actually like the flavor and it has the perfect amount of spice. It goes really well with wings
From the name I suspect they targeted this as habanero-based version of Tabasco sauce. They’ve largely met that goal, I think. It is thicker than Tabasco and the vinegar flavor is a bit less prominent, probably because of the fermentation process.
The flavor is very much what one would expect from mixing habaneros and vinegar. It has a powerful heat which lingers, and then there is the fruity, slightly musky flavor one expects from habaneros.
As a table sauce, I expect its utility will depend on how much one likes habaneros. For cooking purposes, however, I suspect it will be a lot more versatile.
If you like habaneros and hot sauces, I recommend you give this a try.
This sauce, being am 8/10 on the heat scale, I expected it to be on the hot side, but WOW is it hot! It has a decent aroma and what little taste I was able to enjoy before the burn set in wasn’t bad, but it’s far to hot for me. If you like HOT and spicy sauces you may like it, but personally I’ll be passing this one along to someone else who can enjoy it. I sure wish it wasn’t unbearably hot, at the aroma and flavor really are tempting me to try it again.
This hot sauce packs a strong kick, it burned my mouth for a good 10 minutes and then it mellowed out, thank goodness. It is very spicy and is definitely worth it. This is a good sauce to keep around as it will add instant flavor to your bland and tasteless food.
Price wise it is on the expensive side but the fact that part of proceeds will help the animals, makes it worth it.
This hot sauce is vinegar-based and has 50% fermented habanero in it. It is quite tasty and has a medium to spicy heat to it. The consistency is just about right, not too thin and not too thick. It adds a mild, fermented pepper taste with a spicy kick to any dishes in which you would use a hot sauce. The vinegar is fairly strong and only helps the heat to kick in sooner. Overall, I like this hot sauce a lot. Good fermented flavor and a real nice spicy heat. A great hot sauce.
This sauce is sour and super hot! I can completely believe that 8 on the heat scale! For me it’s a bit too hot, but I can tolerate it in a small amount, such as adding a bit to chili.
The flavor is really unique, but hard to explain. The heat does overpower the flavor a bit. I’m still giving it five stars, because it IS good sauce. It’s just not my favorite of the ADF range that I’ve been able to try.
This habanero sauce has a thin consistency, but not runny like water. According to the label on the bottle, this sauce is rated 8 out of 10.
I like spicy foods, and this sauce definitely made the meals I ate spicy. However, it is not uncomfortably hot and I did not have to drink lots of fluid in between each taste of the sauce.
The vinegar is of a mild nature, with a faint hint of salt.
I like the high quality manner in which this habanero sauce is made: preservative-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, halaal certified, canola-free with no added artificial colors and flavors
You guys have done a excellent job of making my meals spicy, without making me wince with each taste of the sauce.
I. Love. This. Sauce.
It has the same vinegary kick as the Jalanasco but then hits you with these incredible fruity notes that are followed by an intense heat that dissipates quite quickly.
This sauce is an absolute winner! I have never had a sauce so full of flavor with so few ingredients. The Habanero peppers sing loud and proud!
My only criticism would be that they don’t make this in a 16.9fl oz!
Habaneros have a very nice fruity flavor to them – if you have the heat tolerance to get there, that is. In the case of this sauce, I am guessing that they gave it the Tabasco treatment in that they fermented the Habaneros in large quantities of vinegar and salt. This is not to my liking which is reflected in the ratings. The vinegar and salt treatment wiped out the fruity flavors of the Habaneros, and also tamed down the heat, leaving behind a mostly hot sauce with some flavor, but not one that I particularly enjoyed.
I loved the fruitiness of the habaneros coming through, although it did leave my mouth on fire! Overall, an awesome flavor! I have never tasted a sauce where the pepper used was truly the star. If you like habaneros then you will love this!
This is a thin sauce that contains: 50% fermented habanero chilli, vinegar, salt and xanthan gum. It doesn’t have any artificial colors or flavors and needs to be refrigerated after opening.
This is a good choice for those who like a strong vinegar taste in their sauce. Habanero chilis are one of my favorite flavors so I really enjoy this sauce.
It is thin enough to be a salad dressing but really goes well on anything that one would normally put hot sauce on. It is ideal for tacos or other Tex-Mex dishes.
This has a vinegar base but mostly what I taste is heat. Nose-running lip burning hotness. The simple flavor profile of mostly heat and a touch of acid lets you add this to a wide variety of foods. I am a fan of heat so no complaints. And you can really taste the fruitiness of the Habanero peppers which I like
Holy moley! This stuff is SPICY! But really good!
I eat hot sauce on everything, and use it in a large percentage of my recipes. This is special hot sauce, so for me, more of a dipping sauce. I like to use it instead of ketchup, mustard, or BBQ sauce as a condiment, or pour a little over my eggs.
It’s a thin consistency with a strong vinegar/sour taste and slightly salty. It’s good that it’s so thin, because a thin coating on my food packs a powerful punch! The flavor is delicious; I’ve decided I love fermented hot sauces. It’s way richer and more complex than traditional varieties I’m used to.
This is a small (glass) bottle; five ounces won’t go far. This is the kind of thing I’d buy as a gift for someone, like a hostess gift or small party gift. It’s a quality product with a novelty aspect, which is great.
